‘Read with SEED’ – volunteers required (University of Manchester PGRs)

We would like to announce an exciting opportunity for students to engage with the local education community, gain hands-on experience of working in schools, and develop transferable skills.

‘Read with SEED’ is a volunteer reading scheme that pairs SEED students with primary schools in the greater Manchester area. We are looking for volunteers to commit half a day a week for four weeks in school, primarily listening to individual children or small groups read aloud.
In return, volunteers will be provided with compensation for travel expenses and assistance with obtaining a DBS check (a criminal record screening required for working in schools).  Additionally, this is a useful way to develop contacts with schools in the local area.

If you are interested in learning more about this opportunity, or to volunteer, please contact michael.wigelsworth@manchester.ac.uk (Associate Director for Schools).
